Speaker, Ebonyi State House of Assembly pledges commitment in complimenting efforts of the State Governor in driving home People’s Charter of Needs policy to people at the grassroots.

The Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Moses Ije Odunwa, has reiterated his unflinching commitment in complimenting the efforts of the State Governor, Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, in driving home the People’s Charter of Needs policy to the people at the grassroots. Chief Odunwa made this known at Odomowo in Inyimegu Community of Ikwo Local Government Area, during the celebration of the Beauty of Motherhood Through Open Maternity Day and Baby Shower by the Wife of the Governor, Chief Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru, in collaboration with Ebonyi State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EBSPHCDA) and BERWO Foundation.

The Sponsor of the programme, Chief Moses Ije Odunwa, who was represented by his Wife, Mrs Florence Odunwa, said that the free medical outreach was a way of assisting the rural dwellers, especially people who don’t have the financial wherewithal in taking care of their health, adding that the programme will also be of a great advantage to some children, who missed vaccination against measles.

 “This free medical outreach is to help the people, at the rural areas, especially people that don’t have money to take care of their health, but this programme will help them to receive free treatment. Some children missed vaccination against measles, but with this, they will be vaccinated.”

The Baby Shower Desk Officer, and Assistant State Health Educator, Mrs. Aloh Ngozi Virginia said that the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chief Moses Ije Odunwa, had promised to support the agency on monthly basis, visit all the Health Centers in Ikwo South Constituency and offer free medical services to the people.

The Team Lead, BERWO, Prof. Nkechi Echiegu, expressed fulfillment on the programme, noting that the government was moving in the right direction.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Oyibe Precious Ogechi, thanked Chief Moses Ije Odunwa for the free medical outreach, stressing that his generosity has saved her huge amount of money.

On their separate speeches, Mr. Nwonu Friday, Mrs. Friday Charity, among others, eulogized Chief Odunwa, for bringing the free medical outreach to their doorsteps, and asked God to reward him.

The event witnessed the presence of great numbers of children, pregnant women, men, and women from the Community, who received different free medical tests, such as tuberculosis, High Blood Pressure, and many more, who were given free drugs as well.
