Face Your Business, Stay Away From Politics-Hon. Ogah tells Orawo
The member representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Comrade Chinedu Ogah has advised Mr, Silas Orawo to face his cement business and stay away from politics, stressing that he is not a politician.
Comrade Ogah dismissed what he described as “Cheap propaganda” from Mr. Orawo and other political opponents, noting that no Lawmaker in Ebonyi State has matched his records in leadership, development and human empowerment.
Speaking with Journalists in Abakaliki, Comrade Ogah maintained that his foray into politics was “divinely ordained” emphasising that his track records in education, employment and community development projects speak for themselves.
“Since i began as a National Assembly member, i have put my energy into serving the people, show me any other National Assembly member who has achieved what i have achieved. There is no ward where i have not executed one project or the other, whether water, electricity, borehole or roads” Ogah said.
He recalled that even before his election to the House of Representative, he had consistently invested in education by paying the WAEC fees for thousands of students and sponsoring vocational and tertiary education.
“Many of those i trained are today graduates, lecturers and Commissioners” he lamented that some of the beneficiaries have now turned against him for selfish political gains.
Comrade Ogah accused such critics of being ungrateful, stressing that, politics should be about presenting one’s scorecards to the people rather than “making noise on facebook”
The Lawmaker alleged that Mr. Orawo worked against the emergence of Governor Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru and himself in the last election only to later feign loyalty.
According to him, people like Mr. Orawo and his cohorts cannot even win elections in their polling units. “I have tarred roads passing their houses, given their family members jobs and paid their school fees, yet they now make disparaging comments against me”.
Ogah described himself as a leader in touch with the people, he said that unlike others who remain in Abuja, he spends most of his weekends in his constituency to address the needs of his people.
Since assuming office in November 2019, Ogah said that he has secured over 1, 100 federal jobs for Ebonyians in the military, police and paramilitary services. He also listed support for over 450 students through university education, including placements in private institutions. He highlighted the establishment of a National Open University Study Centre at the Correctional Service in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State as part of his contributions. “None of the inmates who passed through that centre will go back to crime again”
Comrade Ogah promised to intensify efforts in human capital development, irrigation, hospitals and mechanized agriculture, if returned for a third term in office, following his endorsement by his constituency recently.
On internal party dynamics, Comrade Ogah said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has consistently conducted open primaries, ensuring that no aspirant is excluded.
The feaderal Lawmaker extolled Governor Nwifuru for transparent local primaries which according to him has reduced political crisis in the state.
“Our Governor has carried everyone along and provided us with the neccessary tools to serve. “For the first time, every National Assembly member has a brand new vehicle to reach their constituencies, this has never happenned before in Ebonyi State”
Dismissing reports of coalition against the Governor, Ogah noted that all major political leaders in the state were already aligning with the APC, describing opponents as “feeding bottle politicians” without constituency. He reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Nwifuru and the people of his constituency, Ogah said that his kind of politics is anchored on service not personal enrichment. “I was elected by the people, not by an individual. My commitment remains to them and i stand ready to continue to serve them”
