Zamfara, Chinese firms partner to boost Security, Agriculture
The Zamfara State government has collaborated with Chinese firms to deploy advanced surveillance technology and enhance key sectors, including agriculture, transportation, and mining.
The collaboration was announced by Governor Dauda Lawal during a meeting with a delegation from the Chinese business community at the Government House in Gusau.
Dr Lawal explained that the partnership stemmed from his recent working visit to China from February 15 to 21 this year where he led a state delegation to explore opportunities for collaboration in critical sectors.
According to him, the state government has partnered with Zhong Zhao International Group, a company specializing in organic fertilizers and mechanized farming.
“Zhong Zhao focuses on producing organic fertilizers and advancing health technology research and development”. he stated.
“As part of our agreement, we signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to train local farmers in organic farming practices, introduce advanced machinery, and establish organic fertilizer plants in Zamfara,” the governor stated”
To strengthen security efforts, the Zamfara delegation also collaborated with Phoenix Wings, a Chinese firm specializing in surveillance technology, including drones.
“Together, we will develop strategies to deploy advanced security systems to combat banditry, kidnapping, and other security challenges facing Zamfara State,” he added.
Dr Lawal pointed out that, In the transportation sector, engagements were held with Xiamen Magnetic North Technology Co., Ltd. and Xiamen King Long United Automobile Industry Co., Ltd while the discussions centered on developing modern transport hubs and introducing a mass transit system to enhance mobility within and outside the state.
The delegation also met with WEICAI LOVOL International Trading Company, which specializes in smart agriculture and integrated management platforms. The partnership aims to improve mechanized farming and provide access to advanced agricultural equipment, including tractors”
In the mining sector, Governor Lawal said that, the delegation engaged with Tibet Ming Company to discuss increased investment in sustainable mining practices, social responsibility initiatives, and the adoption of modern exploration technologies.
Dr Lawal expressed his appreciation for the commitment of the Chinese firms to ensuring the success of the partnership.
Earlier, the Secretary to Zamfara State Government, Mallam Abubakar Nakwada, who was part of the delegation to China, expressed hope for the development of the state.
“We had a very productive working visit, and the outcome is evident today. The arrival of these companies marks a major step toward strengthening our economic and technological ties,” Nakwada stated.
As a follow-up to the engagements in China, Mr. Tang Zhangwei led a delegation of Chinese companies to Zamfara to foster bilateral collaboration in key sectors, aiming to drive economic growth and development in the state.
